Spring is in the air and Earth Day is on our minds!

We, at Southwest Community Farmers’ Market, say why should we wait until April 22 to celebrate this planet? We feel like every day should be Earth Day, so we’re going to get this party started!

On April 7 the market will hold its very own Earth Day Celebration! Visitors can expect a day full of family-friendly fun, with various environment-related presentations from the markets’ vendors and a few special guests.

One of those guests, the mayor of South Miami Philip K. Stoddard, will speak on practical mosquito control, a topic of interest for any South Miami local.

Topics for the other presentations will range from how to grow and prepare food, to what’s going on with the environment and what every person can do to get involved. They will be taking place all day, from 10am to 3pm, alongside the market. But if that’s not your jam, the market will be going on per usual with a few cool additions.

At the market this Saturday there will be fun in the sun stations for kids. At these stations, the children will be able to design their own reusable totes, try their hands at potting, or just jam out to some live music.

The best part? Entrance and parking are completely free. For a complete schedule of events, see here . Meanwhile, let us know in the comments how you’re celebrating Earth Day!
